Daybreak is my favourite time in camp on a solo canoe trip. The night’s darkness and uncertainty fades, as the pre-dawn clouds scatter and sunlight grows. I love to sit on the ancient rock beside this old red pine at my favourite campsite looking down Pen Lake.
